ESC Region 12 will provide professional growth opportunities, training, monthly workshops, technical assistance, information updates, and networking through the Counselors’ Council to school counselors. The following topics are included:

• Ethical and legal implications in the field of counseling
• The Developmental Guidance Program that is required of all schools as stated in SB 158
• ACHIEVE TEXAS and GEAR UP materials to be used with parents, students, and teachers as outlined in HB 713
• Offer LPC credit hours for Licensed Professional Counselors for the purpose of license renewal including Ethics workshops
• Materials and programs that assist counselors in the performance of their duties
• Graduation Plans and Achieve Texas information
• Requirements in maintaining the Academic Achievement Records
• •Collaborate with education specialists in Special Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools, ESL, CTE, Title I, School Nurses, Parent Involvement, Accountability, and Core Curriculum in offering workshops for counselors
• “Best Practices” counseling programs for counselors
