REGION 12 TEACHERS AND SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR

Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 will hold an awards ceremony for regional teachers and superintendents, as well as recently retired superintendents, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009. Dr. Rose Cameron, state finalist for Superintendent of the Year, and Teachers of the Year Evelyn Thompson and Bruce “B.J.” Williams are among this year’s honorees.
“We are proudly recognizing these deserving educators for their hard work and dedication to teaching students,” said Dr. Tom Norris, executive director of ESC Region 12. “The commitment they have to being good motivators and mentors is truly an inspiration.”
Thompson, the Elementary TOTY recipient, has served as an educator for 28 years. She has taught special education classes at Martin Walker Elementary in Copperas Cove for the past nine years. Williams, the Secondary TOTY, has been teaching for 14 years. He teaches mathematics at Midway High School in Midway ISD, and has done so for the past four years. Cameron, Copperas Cove ISD (CCISD), has 17 years of administrative experience, three of which she has served as the superintendent of CCISD. She was one of five finalists named for the Texas Superintendent of the Year award.
ESC Region 12 will also recognize five outstanding administrators that have served as superintendents for the region. The 2008-09 retirees include Phil Gerik (Mount Calm ISD), C.L. Hammond (Mullin ISD), Charles McGhee (Morgan ISD), Tony Price (Fairfield ISD) and Robby Stuteville (Priddy ISD).
