Local Public Meeting Aimed at Improving Special Education in Texas
Meeting to be held February 3, 2009 in Nolanville

WACO, TEXAS--Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12 will host a public input and information meeting on behalf of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for parents, teachers, administrators, and others involved in special education, to gather input on topics related to special education in Texas.  The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at ESC Region 12 South at 101 N. 5th in Nolanville.
     The purpose of the meeting is to obtain feedback on topics aligned with the state performance plan and gather needs assessment data at the regional and state levels.  During the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to provide input on the following topics:

• Parent Involvement in the ARD Process – How can school personnel and parents work together to encourage and strengthen parent involvement in this process.
• Graduation & Dropout – When it becomes apparent that a student with disabilities may not graduate, what can schools, parents and the community do to prevent the student from dropping out?
• Post School Opportunities – How can parents, schools and community agencies ensure that students with disabilities can make connections with post school opportunities before they leave high school?
