Area Science Teachers to be Honored at February 24 Ceremony
WACO, TEXAS--An “Honoring the Teachers” breakfast and ceremony recognizing 35 area science teachers will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday at ESC Region 12 in Waco. This special event is sponsored by the Texas Regional Collaborative (TRC) for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching, the AT&T Foundation and the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 12.
“Participating with the ESC Region 12 Texas Regional Science Collaborative benefits science teachers with high-quality professional development, technology training and networking opportunities,” said Laura Calhoun, ESC Region 12 Science Collaborative project director.
The recognized science teachers have mentored a minimum of three other teachers and obtained 105 hours of training in the last year about the latest methods and techniques to engage students in science learning experiences. These mentors return to their schools and districts to assist other teachers in incorporating the methods and techniques into their curriculum.
Mike Baldree, Blooming Grove ISD Superintendent, will deliver the keynote. Teachers will be presented with a certificate of achievement and award plaque.
