Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 

Section 504 is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. Section 504 ensures that children with disabilities have equal access to an education. Students may receive services and accommodations related to the protected disability.

Compliance Review

The ESC Region 12 provides compliance reviews to help campuses and districts determine if their processes are in compliance with federal and state regulations. This includes an in-depth review of student folders, documentation, processes, and the district handbook. The review culminates with a full report that provides a summary of the findings including strengths, opportunities for growth, and suggestions for improvement.
